Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani in
association with Department of Science and Technology
(DST), Government of India has established a Technology
Business Incubator (TBI) in the area of Embedded Systems
and VLSI Design. BITS has also set up a Center for Entrepreneurial
Leadership (CEL) to give a specific boost and emphasis
to entrepreneurship development. TBI jointly with CEL
shall promote entrepreneurial leadership across all
disciplines, facilitate entrepreneurial activity amongst
students, invite entrepreneurs to use TBI services so
as to develop end products for commercialization.
The objectives of the TBI are:
- Fostering the entrepreneurial spirit amongst
students
- Create an environment for innovations
- Promotion of technology based new enterprises
- Creating value added jobs and services
- Produce Support for commercialization of R&D
outputs.

- Create technological awareness and consciousness
in existing Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
- Conduct training programmes for Human Resource
Development in the area of VLSI Design and Embedded
Systems
- Product development in ASIC design, Mixed
Signal design, VLSI Architecture and device
modeling.
- Provide Support Services to entrepreneurs.

Industry Participation
Number of Industries are already participating in the
activities of the TBI in terms of support to the infrastructural
facilities and providing technical help in the areas chosen.
Notable among them are BROADCOM India Ltd, LOGIC VISION,
OPEN SILICON, TENSILICA, MOTOROLA India Ltd , ST Microelectronics
etc. BITS is already having a very strong collaboration
with CEERI, Pilani in conducting programmes in the area
of Microelectronics on campus and also off campus programmes
with TEXAS Instruments, WIPRO, TATA ELXI, IBM, Analog
Devices.

First Incubatee:
Bridle IT a company registered by a team of BITS students
from the disciplines of Management, Finance, Microelectronics
and Software Systems will be developing a product which
is web enabled control of appliances using Bluetooth
modules and FPGA boards.
