PSG College of Technology - Science and Technology Entrepreneurial Park (PSG-STEP) was established in the year 1998 by PSG College of Technology, which is ranked amongst the top 10Engineering Colleges in India along with the IIT's, in association with the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India & All India Financial Institutions to promote technology based enterprises in the areas of Software, Electronic Products, Hi-tech Mechanical Products, Eco-friendly Textile Products and Bio-technology using the core strengths of PSG College of Technology.

PSG-STEP, awarded the Best STEP for the year 2002 by Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, has established an IT Incubator cum Software Park which is the largest in the country attached to an educational institution. This facility is provided with multiple voice and data service providers' gateways.

PSG-STEP has so far assisted more than 80 technology ventures in the last 5 years (some of them are in the pre-IPO stage). The total turnover of these ventures is Rs.250 million and employment generated is about 1000.

The incubated ventures at PSG-STEP operate in the areas of Very Large Scale Integrated Circuit (VLSI) design and embedded software, network management, convergent traffic analyzer, knowledge management, applications in BIFS (Banking, Insurance and Financial Services) domain, e-commerce, internet and touch screen kiosk applications, corrosion management software, transportation and IT Enabled Services like medical transcription, data and forms conversion, GIS, CAD/CAM and 24 X 7 support.

PSG-STEP has created a walk-in and start facility for entrepreneurs to start their ventures with virtually zero investment so that they can leverage their business idea to create a venture. PSG-STEP has also created rapid prototyping and mould and die and component manufacturing facility so that entrepreneurs and SMEs can reduce their product development and commercialization cycle time and operate cost effectively.
