 SJCE-STEP
was established in the year 1985 and has been involved
in the activities like, Entrepreneurship Development,
Skill Development Programme, Escort Services & etc.,
SJCE-STEP has promoted about 135 entrepreneurs in &
around Mysore. The late nineties saw an unprecedented
growth of the IT sector. Technocrat entrepreneurship
was at its peak during this period with the establishment
of several start-up companies in the IT services area.
Most of the start-up units were faced with the problems
of finding a suitable facility for operations, finding
& retaining manpower and funding for research &
development activities, which called for huge funding.
To address these issues and expose the student community
to IT scenario, SEED-Software Entrepreneurs & Employees
Development was established with the support of Ministry
of SSI and ARI, Government of India and Department of
I.T & B.T, Government of Karnataka to provide the
support like Incubation, R & D, Pre-Incubation &
H.R.D
 The
SEED proposal was accepted in the year 1999-2000 and
the work was commenced in construction of the Incubation
facility, which would house six start-up companies with
all the necessary facilities like shared Seminar Hall,
Meeting Rooms Telephone, Fax,Internet,round the clock
uninterrupted power supply & Information center.
The HRD program, which was an essential wing of the
SEED, was commenced with the establishment of training
centers offering training in java, visual Basic, C,
C++ and in the areas like MCSE, Bioinformatics. The
R&D wing of the project, Software Development Competency
Center, was established in 2004 with a view of providing
the much-needed R&D support not only to the SEED
entrepreneurs but to the IT industry of the region and
the student community as well. The Incubation facility
was completed in 2003 and presently is occupied by five
companies, two more companies are in the other facility
in the SJCE-STEP building and they are
- Cochran Software: a division of Ce Te Software:
A U.S based company which will be working on software
development for dynamic creation and manipulation
of PDF documents.
- iCAD Software Services – Sri. Mahesh Nagarajaiah,
CEO
is providing engineering services to customers in
the Europe and US in the areas of structural steel
and Precast & Pre-stressed Concrete Design and
detailing services for a range of industrial, commercial
and high-rise structures for clients in the Europe
and USA.
- ViTel Systems Pvt., Ltd., - Sri. Chetan M. Chatra,
MD
Software Exports Business, with the goal of increasing
the value preposition for overseas clients.
- M/s EZ- Medscribe:- Dr. Venu - Medical Transcription.
- E-Learning Centre:- VTU.

Quality Objectives: Up gradation of the technology

Design Development Center
This project has been sanctioned by Dept., of Science&
Technology. This center is dedicated to developmentactivities
in the Embedded Systems and is alsosupporting training
of student community. Thehardware, software & relevant
tools have been procuredand the Centre is now fully
functional.
Software Development Competency
Center
This center is a part of the SEED project, established
with the objective of providing much needed R&D
support to the IT industries.. This center has been
set up with the latest tools from IBM Rational which
are extremely useful to the IT industry. Many IT companies
have shown interest in utilizing this facility for their
development work. This center would also train the students,
IT professionals from the industry.
Video Conferencing Facility
A state- of the art Video Conferencing Facility has
been established which will go a long way in bringing
IT companies spread across the globe closer and also
networking and Video Conferencing amongst Technical
institutions- This Center has ISDN/IP connections with
Theater mode/conference mode facility.
