Focus Areas
The Technology Business Incubator, first of its kind
in India established at Kongu Engineering College Campus
with the grant-in-aid and support of Department of Science
and Technology, Government of India, focuses on the
cutting edge technology areas of Embedded System, Digital
Signal Processing and Electronic Card Design, Assembly,
Testing & Repair, Multimedia Technology and Wireless
Embedded Systems.
Infrastructure & Facilities
The Incubator is provided with the state-of-the-art
tools (hardware as well as software) required for development
of products and services in the above areas. Well equipped
air-conditioned 'Development Centres' in the technological
areas, independent Entrepreneur's cubicles with necessary
computing facilities and furniture, back office support,
24 hours internet access, 100% standby power supply
etc., provide the right ambience for the development
activities.
 On-campus
accommodation, assistance for finance, technical and
marketing guidance by mentoring etc., are among the
other services offered by the TBI. In addition to the
Entrepreneurship development, the TBI @ KEC also provides
training to the staff and students of the Engineering
institutions and industries and also offers real-time
projects in the focus areas. Repair and Servicing of
electronic cards and equipment is another service provided
by TBI.
 The
resources of the Host Institute - situated in a 200
acre land and offering 12 undergraduate and 12 Master's
Degree Courses and 5 Ph.D programmes with well developed
laboratories and other infrastructure - in the form
of equipment and experienced staff and knowledgeable
students are also available for the entrepreneurs of
the TBI.
Entrepreneurs Graduated and
Products Launched
Five entrepreneurs have graduated so far. The following
four products have been launched so far, including two
for overseas market
- Electronic Control Panel for Scrubber Drier Machine
- Universal Power Regulator for DC Motor
- CPLD Development Kit based on Xilinix for use in
VLSI Design
- Controller for Automated Bell Ringing System
Additionally, the product Hand Held Device for NGOs
has been developed and test marketed.

of TBI:
Presently eight Entrepreneurs

in TBI@KEC in the focus areas of TBI. Some of the products

Re-Engineering, Repair, Project
and Training activities of TBI
 Other
activities carried out by the TBI include Training Programmes
for staff, students and industry personnel, Re-engineering
and upgradation of Technology for industries, Repair
of Electronic Cards for Industry, Developing Programmes
and Small products for nearby Industries and Students
Projects.
