 VITTBI
is a joint initiative between Vellore Institute of Technology,
Vellore and Department of Science and Technology and
Government of India. It was started in the year 2003.
Objectives:
To nurture and develop Technology Entrepreneurs by
providing complete support during the Venture creation
process.
Thrust Areas: Auto
Components, Biotechnology, Value added Leather Products
and Consumer Durable.
Facilities: The
project cost is Rs.3.50 crores and the following facilities
have been created for the Entrepreneurs:
- Office Space: Around 150-sq.ft pre fabricated office
space is provided to set up an individual office.
- Shared Office Resources: Fax/copier/computers/printer/scanner/internet/telephone/conference
room/discussion hall/library
- Product Development and Testing Facilities:
i).Rapid Prototyping
ii).CNC-Coordinate Measuring Machine
iii)CNC Machining Centres
iv).HPLC / Gas Chromatograph/ Fermenter/ BioChemistry
Analyser
v). Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer/ UV-Visible
Spectrophotometer
vi).Leather Testing Equipment
- Laboratory Access and Interaction with Faculty Experts:
Once selected as an incubatee, the entrepreneur will
have access to all the Laboratories in the Campus
and also can obtain the advice of experts.
- Networking:
VITTBI has established a good working relation with
Banks, Venture Funding agencies, Patent Facilitating
Centre, Research Institutions and Government departments.
This association will benefit the Entrepreneurs in
the Incubator. Also, VITTBI encourages networking
among the incubatees for synergic results.
 Mentoring:
VITTBI will arrange two to three mentors for every
entrepreneur. A panel of mentors would be made available
to the entrepreneur at the time of joining.
- Projects:
Currently there are 6 entrepreneurs working in the
Incubator. Apart from this 5 students have been inducted
for a pre-incubation program.
